Welcome to February, the month of lurrrve, and the resident hopeless romantic at Golightly Gardens has been busy being as cheeky as usual. Here are a few reasonably priced gifts for Valentine’s Day that’ve recently caught my eye.
Valentine’s gifts £10 & under
If your budget is a tenner or less, there are some really sweet gifts out there along the lines of small and thoughtful. Let’s start with this cute little keepsake.
Oakdene Designs personalised couples keepsake tin | £9.00
A cute little trinket tin with your names on it, for your keepsakes and tiny treasures. There’s a choice of three different colours and designs – my favourite is the quirky alligator one – and you can add a year to the front as well, for when you got together or tied the knot. This would be an especially nice way to ‘wrap’ some small favourite photos or a piece of jewellery too.
The Sticker Kitten polymer clay heart dangle earrings | £3.60
You can wear your heart on your sleeve, or you can wear loads of them dangling from your earlobes – these earrings are so full of fun that you might just end up keeping them for yourself. They come with hypoallergenic backs, and are sent wrapped in recycled tissue paper and packaged in a recycled cardboard box. You can also opt to include a personalised handwritten gift note from the seller.
Isla & Boe ’10 things I love about you’ love note cards | £9.99
These little personalised love note cards are such a lovely idea, and you can either write them out yourself or get them printed by Isla & Boe (make sure there are no spelling mistakes because they print it exactly as you’ve typed it in). They’ll even print your honey’s name on the box too. A great way to make someone feel seen and special.
Valentine’s gifts £10 – £20
If you have a little more to spend, I think these loved up treats give you something special for under £20. Think quality rather than quantity, and give that soggy bunch of carnations from the garage down the road a swerve.
Hotel Chocolat ‘Just Because’ chocolate box | £18.00
A sleek looking box containing 16 delicious pralines, truffles, and caramels, many of them heart-shaped, for an affectionate touch that isn’t too over the top. It would be suitable for any gender or relationship (unless they’re vegan – but they do have vegan chocs on their site too). I also like their ’12 Little Lovebirds’ in raspberry and white chocolate for £8.50, and the pink champagne truffle tin for £10.00.
‘Espressoly for you’ coffee by Two Chimps | From £10.95
Yes, the gourmet coffee team at Two Chimps has done it again with a special drink to start your romantic day. This is a high quality single estate speciality Arabica coffee with natural citrus, apricot and floral notes for the true coffee lover in your life. Perfect for breakfast in bed paired with fruit pastries. Start your day with a bang! No, not like that (yes, of course like that; it’s V-Day, come on).
Oakdene Designs personalised pop out photo album in box | £17.00
Put eight, 10 or 12 of your favourite photos into a mini fold out photo album, and personalise the name and greeting on top of the box to make a special keepsake. It’s best to use square images with at least 200 x 200 pixels to get the most attractive results, and you can include a gold foiled gift card message too if you like.
Blow the budget…
Yes, I know this one’s more expensive than the others, but I tried it recently and thought it was a tasty treat.
Cihuatán Sahumerio Limited Edition Rum | £69.90
This aged rum from El Salvador is inspired by the Mayan ‘sahumerio’ incense burners where people would make offerings to Chantico, the goddess of love. It’s a refined blend of 12 and 14 year old rums, with hints of smoke, honey and fruit. The beautiful bottle and presentation box would be a great gift for a special someone.
That’s it for today’s meet-cute. Was it love at first sight?
