Ultrasun Lip Protection SPF 30 review lipbalm lip balm

Here’s a review of Ultrasun Lip Protection SPF 30, one of my favourite summer beauty essentials that I think represents good value. It’s an effective lip balm that has high protection from the sun’s UVA (ageing) and UVB (burning) rays, making it ideal for holidays and travel.

It moisturises effectively, but without adding lots of shine or creating a greasy feeling which makes it a good unisex product too. The moisturising ingredients include meadowfoam seed oil, blackcurrant seed oil and shea butter, and it’s suitable for vegetarians.

There’s no strong scent or flavour, and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin which is a bonus. It can also be used as a treatment or base under most lipsticks, and this is especially useful under matte and semi-matte lipsticks which can often be quite drying.

If you have normal to dry skin you can use it to prevent sunburn on the nose and the tops of the ears, making it a handy item to take on your travels. It would also be useful when skiing, as there’s a lot of light reflected up from the snow and it would prevent chapping from the cold air.

The balm is quite long lasting once applied, although it’s sensible to reapply SPF lip products after eating or going swimming. Once opened, the contents of the twist-up stick of balm will stay fresh for up to two years.

The RRP of  a tube of Ultrasun Lip Protection SPF 30 lip balm is £6.00, and you can find it at Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and SpaceNK. You can regularly find offers on it at AllBeauty, LookFantastic, QVC and Escentual, including free P&P and discount codes.
