The £10 spring makeup challenge: Part 3

The quest continues to refresh my makeup bag with some nice fresh spring colours, all on a tight budget of just £10! Now, on to lips…

There are so many bargain lip colours out there that I’ve split this section into two. Today it’s time to look for the best cheap tinted lip balm and the best cheap lip stain. These products lend themselves well to this year’s spring looks, either with light pinks and nudes, or brighter corals.

Best bargain tinted balms

Tinted lip balm is perfect for an off duty or subtle look. For starters, there’s the ever-popular Vaseline Rosy Lips (1) which currently costs £1.99 and gives a hint of pink.

Miss Sporty’s Dr Balm (2) is another cheapie at £1.99 which adds a tiny bit of colour, and the range includes a coral-red shade.

The Body Shop’s Born Lippy stick lip balm (3) in pomegranate or strawberry costs £3.00, and gives a nice healthy tint to the lips while providing moisture.

MUA’s Power Pout sticks (4) are tinted lip treatments similar to Clinique’s chubby sticks, priced £3.00, with a lot of colour payoff. Justify is orange-peach, Runaway is coral, and Rendezvous is nude.

Burt’s Bees tinted lip balms (5) are cult classics but they’re a bit more pricey, retailing at £5.99.

Best bargain lip tints

Tints are light, fuss-free and longer lasting, often giving a ‘my lips but better’ appearance, but it’s not easy to find nice cheap ones.

2True Cheek n Lip Tint in blush pink (6) costs £1.99, and is a real baby pink.

I’ve also found some Astor Perfect Stay Transferproof lip tint pens (7) in coral nude on FragranceDirect for £2.99.

The Collection 2000 Colour Pout Lipstains (8) are currently £3.99 at Superdrug (£1 off), and they’re long lasting pens with a good colour payoff.

NYC Smooch Proof (9) is another low-priced lip ink pen at £3.99, in a nice range of long lasting colours, including champagne, pink and orange.

If you have a little more cash to spend, I really like Rimmel’s 1000 Kisses lip tint (especially Nothing But Nude) for £5.99 – look out for multi-buy offers at high street chemists – and Max Factor Infinity Lasting Lip Tint at £6.99.
