Tenner Week January 2023: Day 7
We’ve arrived at our final day of the January 2023 Tenner Week money-saving challenge, and I hope you’ve had a good week so far.
Today we’re going to go into full on lazy Sunday mode, and remembering to wind down well. Hopefully this will be a lovely relaxing end to the week, and you’ll wake up feeling refreshed tomorrow.
Towards mid-evening, start winding down by doing any of these:
- Turning off bright lights and switching to softer lighting
- Playing softer or more relaxing music
- Tidying up your sleeping area so it’s calmer
- Avoiding blue light from devices such as mobile phones for at least an hour before bedtime
- Going to bed at a sensible time for you
- Avoiding large amounts of alcohol or caffeine, which can disrupt sleep
- Having a warm bath or shower before bed
- Listening to a relaxation recording or app
Okay, there’s not much you can do if you’re booked on for a night shift or you have a newborn baby, but maybe you could schedule in a nap for today or tomorrow, or rest where you can.
What’s happening here
My plan for this evening is to have a proper wind down here, with a cosy mystery show on the telly, watched snuggled up on the sofa under our fluffiest blanket. Maybe by candlelight for extra relaxing vibes if I remember. Then I’ll switch my phone off before 10pm and go and read my new book – I’m currently enjoying ‘Lessons in Chemistry’ by Bonnie Garmus – for a while before it’s time for lights out.
On the food front, we’re having some very retro fish finger sandwiches for lunch, which are definitely a guilty pleasure but also deliciously right for the end of January. There’s also just enough left in the freezer for Beau to make us a simple Sunday roast dinner later, and I think I’ll make a rhubarb crumble for afterwards with some chunks of last year’s frozen homegrown. Real stick to your ribs stuff.
I still haven’t spent my last £1.00, and at this point in proceedings I’m not sure whether I really need to, so I might not go to the newsagents after all.
Total spent so far this week: £9.00.
Did you make it to the end of this week without going over your budget? Have you tried any of the daily activities, and if so, which one was your favourite?
