Tenner Week Aug 2014: Day 1: Scrub up nicely

Tenner Week August 2014 starts today! Time to get budgeting…. This time around we’re focusing on looking and feeling good, so let’s get started.

Tenner Week August 2014 Day One

Today is a really easy one – get yourself scrubbed up and do a little exfoliating. The more sensitive your skin is, the more gentle you need to be, so don’t overdo it and don’t use huge scratchy granules of anything. Time to whisk off a few dead skin cells then.

It’s completely up to you how much you want to do, so you can pick any of the following to exfoliate:

  • face
  • body
  • feet

You might have some exfoliating products in your home already (cream / gel / shower products / face scrubs / foot scrubs etc), so don’t keep them for best – use them up!

Alternatively, you could make a body scrub with a mixture of granulated sugar and vegetable oil, or oil and fine salt. Add herbs, essential oils, coffee grounds, cinnamon or vanilla to make it smell gorgeous too, if you like.

Or you could go down the mechanical route if you have any of these:

  • back brush or strap
  • bobbly old facecloth
  • loofah or sponge
  • body mitt or puff
  • foot file or pumice stone

Follow on with gentle products to make the most of the extra level of cleansing: some moisturiser, body lotion, body butter or foot cream.

What’s happening here?

I’ll be using some non-scrub exfoliating liquid on my face, and getting the back brush out for a good old scrub-a-dub-dub. At some point I’ll also be doing my menu for the week too – tonight’s dinner is going to include leftover roast vegetables from Sunday lunch, probably mixed with cous cous and some grilled cheese.

What are you going to get up to?
