Tenner Week April 2015 Roundup
Time for a quick look back through the whole of last week’s Tenner Week. Did you join in?
It was different here for three reasons. Firstly, because there was a theme (Get Ready for Summer), secondly because I didn’t do the TV Diet alongside the budget for the first time in I can’t remember, and finally, because I had a bug the whole time and didn’t have much energy.
Don’t know about you, but I really enjoyed the summer theme. It was great getting my summery clothes and shoes out of storage, and putting the heaviest winter clothing away. I also really enjoyed the pampering activities, and it really helped me to slow down, relax and remember to take good care of myself.
Not doing the TV Diet felt very strange, if I’m going to be honest. I love the chance to cut right back on the goggleboxing, to clear my head, to read, to listen to music, to have meals at the table, and to sketch out ideas. However, I had to admit that I wasn’t good for much, and taking up residence on the sofa was probably the best – temporary option. That, and a few early nights.
Being ill was tricky and meant that I didn’t throw myself into activities with gusto. Things took longer to do. For example, I managed a few toning exercises on Saturday, but ended up doing them in small sets of reps here and there instead of doing a proper workout.
Meanwhile, I concentrated on eating properly and that took up a lot of my energy in the evenings. I figured that I wasn’t going to get better unless I did that. By Sunday, I was almost back to normal and went off on my pre-booked Writer Retreat for the day, which I enjoyed a lot.
Apart from that, I didn’t get out much at all, apart from a press event and a drink on Sunday evening. I think that was the deciding factor with the budget, rather than any financial wizardry.
In the end I spent a grand total of £1.70, and watched a ridiculous amount of telly.
