Penny Golightly SwimShop UK review

I’ve recently had the opportunity to try out SwimShop for the first time, and thought you might like to know about my experience.

If you aren’t already familiar with SwimShop, they’re a massive online retailer of swimsuits, swimming trunks and shorts, goggles, and all things swimming related. If you’re looking for something specific, chances are they’ll have it in stock and most likely with some kind of discount compared to the recommended retail price.

On browsing around the site, it soon became clear that there were lots of choices for the serious swimmer, with a good range of sporty performance wear on offer. I’d say that this is their strongest feature, and if you train hard or simply love a regular dip in the pool then this is for you. I especially liked the detailed descriptions of each item, which often include the level of chlorine resistance that you can expect from each garment, as well as UV protection, resistance to fading in sunlight and so on.

Having said that, there are also lots of fun things to wear on the beach, and for kids and anyone else who’s learning to swim. There’s a clearance section with hefty reductions too. Of course I checked out the clearance section first – this is Penny Golightly after all.

In the end, seeing as I already own some sporty and sensible swimwear, I decided to plump for something that would look good both in and out of the pool. My final choice was the vintage-inspired Ocean Bay Halterneck Red & Navy swimsuit by Zoggs (pictured above), because of both the glamorous styling and the fact that it bears a passing resemblance to Wonder Woman.

The UK RRP of this swimming costume is £33.97, and the price on the site was £27.99 (£5.98, or an 18% saving), although it wasn’t in the sale. Postage on orders of £25 and over is free.

Once ordered, the swimsuit arrived very quickly – the very next day – and was well packaged. It also turned out to be excellent quality and a very flattering fit, and I’m very happy with it indeed. It’s truly gorgeous!

Obviously your mileage may vary, according to variations in personal preference and body shape, but my understanding is that the company has a free no-quibble returns policy in case something doesn’t fit.

To sum up: an excellent shopping experience and a great product. I would happily recommend SwimShop.
