Review: New season tights and stockings
It’s that time of year again. Getting chilly. Party season on the way. Time to crack out the tights. I usually invest in some nice new hosiery to warm up existing, slightly summery clothing, plus something to give a classic little black dress a this-season makeover (without needing to shell out for a new dress).
This time around I’ve managed to get my eager little mitts on some of the latest arrivals at tightsplease, and thought you might like to have a look at them too.
First up we have some toasty, chunky everyday tights that are letting me keep on wearing my jersey day dresses for a bit longer. These Charnos Rib Opaques cost £7, and I have a pair in ‘ink’, a soft blue-purple colour. For more winter warmers, try tightsplease leggings, opaques or thermals collections. For other ideas for warming up your winter wardrobe, have a look at my recent article for Most Wanted too.
Next we have something for this season’s gothic trend, a very delicate lace design by Red Or Dead called ‘Marjorie’. They have an incredibly flattering leg-lengthening pattern, cost £11.49, and are available in black or brown. I love them.
The last pair I tried out are a little more pricey at £14, but they’re party season showstoppers, and have the added advantage of being reversible – so you effectively get two design/colourways for the price of one. They’re ‘Chicago’ tights by Jonathan Aston, and are available in cranberry or smoke. Worn the first way they’re red with a black motif, and the other way they’re dark burgundy with a shiny light red motif. Both tap into the baroque trend, and are rather special.
What do you think? Any favourites?
