Quick! Aldi Mother’s Day designer-style candles only £3.99

Aldi Mother's Day candles like Jo Malone

Here’s a quick heads up for you. If you’re looking for a really nice Mother’s Day gift, Aldi has just released these luxury fragranced candles and they’re only £3.99 each. Available in-store only from Thursday the 16th of March, and there are limited stocks so snap them up now before they all go.

[EDITED TO ADD: Good news, these are back indefinitely on the Aldi website, so you can buy them online now.]

I’ve managed to get hold of some to review them, and they’re large perfumed candles with double wicks in heavy, stylish jars. The lids are well-fitted and good quality too, and the labels are simple and stylish. These are very generously sized and would make a great gift.

As long as you trim the wicks, they will give you many hours of burn time. I’ve burned one for around sixteen hours now and it’s hardly made a dent. According to the manufacturers you should get at least 48 hours from each one, and that sounds about right to me.

They also release a decent amount of fragrance. Speaking of which, there are three choices of scent, including: No 1 Lime, Basil & Mandarin (uplifting and zesty); No 2 Freesia & Pear (fresh floral); No 3 Pomegranate Noir (heavier fruity floral). They’re all quite similar to fragrances by Jo Malone, although I’d say they’re inspired by them rather than a direct copy. All smell beautiful and classy.

Speaking of which, the 200g Jo Malone candles (similar, but with single wicks and a black bow on the lid) cost £44.00 at the moment, compared with the £3.99 Aldi versions. While not identical, the supermarket ones are similar enough and quite a steal if you’re looking for a lovely, thrifty treat for someone. You might even want to stock up with a few for your own home.

Only available while stocks last. Get in there…

Have you seen these candles in Aldi stores yet? Will you be keeping an eye out for them?
