LOreal color riche macaron noisette 102 nail colour polish varnish review

This one has sort of crept up on me, and I’ve only realised recently how often I’ve been reaching for this product. I’d go as far as to say it’s become my everyday go-to colour, and it’s a beige / nude / dark champagne colour that ticks a lot of boxes.

Quite a few people have complained that the L’Oreal Color Riche polishes only come in a 5ml bottle, so the price-per-ml is relatively high compared to some other brands. However, how often do you actually get to the bottom of a nail polish? The stuff you don’t use is a waste if you think about it…

Why does this tick a lot of boxes? To begin with, it’s a flattering shade that leans slightly warm without pulling too yellow and giving you that nasty ‘lobster hands’ look (i.e. it doesn’t overly highlight natural redness in the skin around the fingertips and cuticles). It’s a mid-light beige-y colour with a little peach-pink in it. It makes my hands look well-groomed and healthy.

There’s also the tiniest amount of very fine silver and gold sparkle in the polish. This fortunately does not give you a tacky frosted looking finish, it just makes the colour pop a little and stops it looking too matt or plastic. If you’re hoping to avoid the mannequin hands look, this one’s for you.

The first coat goes on a little streaky, but this evens out after the second coat and it becomes a semi-sheer finish. For an opaque finish I find it needs three coats (two thin ones followed by a slightly thicker third coat), but you can wear it either way depending upon the look you’re going for.

The other plus points:

  • Nice wide brush
  • Gets used up before it goes off
  • Can be applied in thin coats
  • Dries quickly
  • Shiny finish
  • Sparkle adds depth to colour without looking frosted
  • Works both as semi-sheer and opaque
  • Wears well
  • Often available in 3-for-2 offers

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche nail colours are available from Superdrug and Boots priced £4.99 each. Both shops are currently running 3-for-2 promotions on cosmetics where you can mix and match brands.
