Penny Choose: Collection Work the Colour Lip Butter review
Time for another little Treat Under a Tenner, and this one’s very girly (I promise to do something a bit more unisex for the next one, just to balance things out). I’m reviewing my current go-to lip product, which is Collection Work the Colour Lip Butter in Vintage Rose.
This is a soft, creamy lip colour with a touch of shine that comes in twist-up pencil form. It’s very comfortable to wear, and nicely moisturising and non-drying. It lasts quite a long time on the lips too, given the moisturising properties.
On to the colour. There is plenty of pigment in this product, which I wasn’t expecting considering the price and the texture. A couple of swipes is all you need for some strong colour payoff, or you can do a single swipe and sheer it out for a more subtle appearance.
The shade, Vintage Rose, is really beautiful. I’d describe it as a soft mid-toned pink that leans a little warm, and it has a touch of coral in it that gives it a pretty lift. It’s very easy to wear, and is handy for those days when a nude lip colour doesn’t quite have enough impact. The shade is sophisticated, and just girly enough without straying into Barbie territory.
There’s a very faint hint of vanilla, but no strong scent or flavour which is a bonus. Overall, I’d say this is a perfect everyday colour for the Spring and Summer, and it performs better than all the other similar products I’ve tried that cost two or three times the price.
Collection Work the Colour Lip Butter in Vintage Rose costs just £2.99, and is available from Boots (currently in their 3 for 2 offer) and Superdrug (with free lip balm when you spend £3.99 on Collection cosmetics).
Have you tried this colour, or any of the other shades in the Collection lip butter range?
