NYX Butter Gloss lipgloss review

NYX Butter Gloss lip review Penny Golightly treats under a tenner

This week’s Treat Under a Tenner is NYX Butter Gloss, and here’s a quick review of it.

NYX Butter Gloss is essentially a very easy to wear lipgloss that’s more moisturising and comfortable to wear than your average gloss. It lasts slightly longer too, although all lipglosses will naturally have less wear time than, say, a lipstick that also contains staining ingredients.

It’s soft and gentle on the skin, and doesn’t feel as tacky or sticky as other products in this category, which makes it really pleasant to use. There’s a very faint sweet scent but it’s not overpowering and I’ve found it fades within a few minutes of use, which is what I prefer in a lip product.

So far, so good, but what does it have above and beyond the properties of a standard lip balm from a tube? Well, thanks for asking. It has soft-to-medium levels of colour (easy to wear but also strong enough to brighten up your look), and 22 different shades ranging from subtle to bright, so not only does it feel good on, it looks rather excellent too. It’s nice to see such a wide range of shades, as we don’t always get the full complement of colours in the UK.

The RRP of NYX Butter Gloss is £7. You can find it at the official NYX UK site (look out for their 25%-off summer sale too), but it’s very popular and keeps going out of stock so you might be better off going to Very who seem to have the whole range available at the moment.

If you’re looking at the NYX range on Very, I also highly recommend their baked blush for finely-milled colour and glow (my favourite shade is peach-pink Wanderlust), and their soft matte lip creams for chic seasonal looks.
