Jump Start Aug: Holiday Money Week: Day 6
Today’s Jump Start holiday money task is to pick and research one way of making some additional income. Ideally this should be something that you can do regularly or semi-regularly, so you can take it forward.
What you choose will depend on your personal circumstances and the amount of free time you have available, but you could consider some of these ideas:
- Temp jobs or summer casual work
- Selling crafts via online marketplaces such as Etsy, Folksy etc
- Evening or weekend work
- Babysitting
- Dog walking
- Housesitting
- Cleaning or ironing
- Clothes alterations
- Doing paid surveys
- Writing freelance articles
- Running a small market stall at weekends or special events such as fairs
Or you might have a completely different idea of your own. If you can think of a niche area to sell goods or services, or you have professional qualifications you can use (e.g. bookkeeping, registered childminder), you’re likely to earn more.
Remember that for most of these you will need to arrange to pay tax on your earnings, and you may also need to cost in materials and other expenses.
I love your posts, they’re so concise but brimming with tips 🙂 Could always do with a bit of extra money…
