How to nail the SS23 artisan home trend on a budget
If you’re thinking about a creative home decor refresh for spring or summer this year, the 2023 Artisan trend is big news. Several high street shops are running with the Artisan look from this month onwards, including Dunelm, B&M and George Home, so it’s easy to create it for yourself without spending a fortune.
It’s an eclectic trend, inspired by abstract shapes, travel and nature, with a casual, relaxed feeling and lots of interesting textures. These include wicker storage and furniture, woven grass decorations, macrame, linen, textured cushions and throws, mid-toned and dark woods, and terracotta dishes and vases.
The colour palette is mostly pale, with neutrals, creams and beiges, but it also includes some splashes of rust, blush, and black to add interest. Vases and plant pots are a major element of the theme too, filled with dried flowers and pampas grass or lush greenery.
Dunelm Artisan collection
Texture, colour and creativity are the central components of the Artisan collection by Dunelm. Look out for fringes, macrame and woven soft furnishings alongside touches of rattan and rich natural-finish wood in smooth shapes.
The collection is all about relaxed indoor and outdoor living, and the different textures and tones are designed to be mixed and matched to give your space its own unique feel.

The picture above gives you a good overview of what this collection is all about, from the decorative mango wood sideboard to the relaxed and eclectic accessories. It’s an easy way to take a room with fairly neutral furniture and decor and add a mixture of interesting textures and pops of colour that make it feel more like home.
BEST FOR: A one stop shop where everything mixes and matches easily.
Here are a few particularly striking items that caught my eye:

Dunelm ochre woven bottle vase | £25
Made from straw and paper rope, this large decorative vase stands 60cm tall.

Dunelm Artisan orange wall art | £45
A bold bit of wall art with interesting colours and textures.

Dunelm Artisan rattan indoor/outdoor mirror | £50
Another piece that can be used for indoor or outdoor living, and is useful to reflect light in darker areas.
B&M Boho Soul collection
If you prefer something that leans slightly more romantic, try channelling your inner bohemian spirit with the Boho Soul trend from B&M. This look allows you create a plush and comfortable home space with subtle touches of nature throughout.
The collection uses a soothing warm blush, stone and cream colour palette around the home with welcoming soft tonal textures, delicate pampas grass and some 70s-inspired rattan thrown in for good measure.

I think these items work especially well for creating a relaxed bedroom on a budget, as you can see in the picture above, and the tone-on-tone colours are particularly suited to small spaces.
Here are a few of my top picks from the collection. These are all in store only and subject to availability, so if you see anything you like it’s best to get along to your nearest B&M as soon as you can.

George Sahara collection
The Sahara collection from George Home takes many of the most popular artisan shapes, shades and textures, then adds a little more spice to the mix to keep things interesting. Think animal prints, abstract designs and rich colourways to inspire your space for the season ahead.
The have the entire home covered, from living areas through to bedrooms, bathrooms, dining and gardens. Most of the indoor pieces would work well out on a patio too, for outdoor dining, socialising and relaxing.

As you can see from the picture above, this collection contains several contrasting pieces that help make your space more fun and arty. Although there hasn’t been room to include it here, their Sahara bath towels and Sahara bedding are worth checking out too.
BEST FOR: A bolder, summery spin on the Artisan trend at affordable prices.
Some of my favourite picks from this collection:

George Sahara black arch vase with handle | £12
A striking shape to pep up your home decor, and it looks much more expensive than it really is.

George Sahara natural wiggle mono throw | £15
Natural tones in a recycled polyester fabric that’s part of the George for Good initiative.
