Fun Week: Day 7: Kid’s stuff

The last day of Fun Week is about remembering what fun used to be like when life was so much simpler…

It’s easy to take it all a bit too seriously at the moment while we’re mostly skint, freezing and staring into the abyss of a possible financial meltdown. However, it doesn’t have to be serious all the time, and today I’m looking back to a time in my life when everything was a whole lot more carefree and silly.

Take a moment to think back to when you were eight or nine years old, and quickly write a list of ten or fifteen of everything you loved when you were that age. For me it was playing on the swings, climbing trees, making dens and forts with blankets and chairs, eating sherbet sweets, putting random collections of toys together and making up stories about them, reading adventure books, roller skating, riding my bike out to the lake, making tiny books out of scraps of paper and card, and so on.

So when I have a moment at the weekend I’m going to buy sweets and craft materials, make myself a new notebook, and find myself a crazy book to read. Nothing will cost more than my pocket money, and it should be good silly fun.
