Five things I’m loving this week: Early June 2019
It’s treat time once again, with another collection of new things that have caught my eye in the last few days. This is a nod to all things summer, from picnic fodder to lovely lipsticks, so enjoy!
The Inkey List’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum | £4.99 | Buy here.
This hydrating serum contains a decent amount of hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate to soothe and plump the skin, but – unlike most of its competitors – it also contains the peptides that make up Matrixyl 3000 for a longer term boost. It’s formulated without fragrance which dehydrated and sensitive skin types will love, and it does a good job at a fraction of the cost of other similar products. The slightly clunky lid can be a bit fiddly but for this price I’m definitely not complaining, and the 30ml bottle is perfect for travel.
Beauty Pie’s Futurelipstick Luxe Shine Lipstick in ‘You Sexy Thing’ | Edited to add: I am no longer willing to recommend this company or its products.
Uniqlo Longline Heather Short Sleeved Bra Dress | £14.99 on sale | Buy here.
There’s a short-lived sale going on at Uniqlo until the 5th of June, including these easy-to-wear bra dresses at half price. They’re handy for super casual weekend dressing, no messing about, just team with sunglasses and tennis shoes (and, er, knickers I suppose) and you’re done. Available in various colours, plus there are striped and shorter versions too. Be quick if you want to bag a bargain.
Leerdammer Light Cheese Slices | £1.80 | Buy at Tesco, Sainsbury’s and others.
I wanted some nutty cheese to throw into a salad-filled baguette and this hit the mark, so I’m recommending these slices for stress free packed lunches and picnics. Their commitment to sustainability will make me buy it again too: they’ve redesigned their packs to use 10% less plastic, the lid is fully recyclable along with everything else (unlike most film lids at the moment), and the plastic they use for the boxes is made from 24% recycled materials. A tasty step in the right direction.
Bulk Powders LiquiFlav Raspberry | £4.19 with discount | Buy here.
Hmm, yes, this is definitely not the sort of thing I’d usually go for, as it’s probably aimed at bodybuilders who want to make their protein shakes less deadly dull… Anyway, we’re in the middle of a rhubarb glut here and I was looking for a way to cook all this rhubarb without sugar, and it turns out that this fits the bill better than anything else. Just add 10 to 15 drops to boiling water to poach the fruit and it comes out perfectly; I even served it at a dinner party it was so convincing. Contains flavouring, natural colour and a tiny bit of sucralose, and that’s about it. Use code: SHOP30 this week to get a 30% discount, otherwise it costs £5.99.
Full disclosure: There are no PR samples or paid promotions in this article, they’re just things I like and have bought recently. I hope you like them too.
