Debt Awareness Week starts today
It’s Debt Awareness Week in the UK, running from the 23rd of March to the 29th inclusive. Debt Awareness Week is StepChange Money Charity’s annual campaign to help people talk more openly about debt-related issues, and the theme this year is ‘Change Your Debt Story’, helping people to get the help they need sooner rather than later. With the new coronavirus pandemic causing havoc with employment, incomes and personal finances in general there’s never been a more important time to ask for that help.
In 2020 StepChange don’t just offer free debt advice and solutions for people who are experiencing a debt crisis. They also offer help for people who have a persistent debt on their credit card, store card or catalogue accounts, and they also run a money coaching service.
Free and impartial debt advice matters more than ever, whether you need free advice about a debt problem, want some support with tackling a persistent debt, or you’re worried about the impact of coronavirus on your finances.
What should I do if I’m worried about my debts?
Whether you’re experiencing a debt crisis and need debt advice, or you’re simply worried about the persistent debt on your credit card, store card or catalogue account, visit StepChange to get free, impartial support.
They also have a Coronavirus hub with specific information for those worried about the impact of COVID-19 on their finances.
Look out for the #ChangeYourDebtStory and #DebtAwarenessWeek hashtags on social media too.
With the current global situation it’s more important than ever to raise awareness of free, impartial debt advice – and that’s why I’m proud to be supporting StepChange’s Debt Awareness Week campaign. Let’s end the stigma of debt and help as many people as possible.
