Christmas gift guide: Plastic free and zero waste bath, body and haircare

Last week I covered some lovely plastic-free and zero waste skincare and makeup gifts, and now as promised I’ve managed to find a stack of bath, body and haircare goodies for your eco-friendly friends and relatives. They’re often hard to find, but I’ve done the searching so you don’t have to – enjoy!

Plastic free bath, body and perfume

Christmas gift guide plastic free presents bath and body lotion butter foot cream shower gel

Top row, left to right:

  • Hydrophil sisal soap bag, £3.24 at Ecco-Verde UK. There are plenty of plastic free soaps available, either sold without wrappers or covered with paper wraps or boxes, so rather than concentrate on those I’ve picked out this great little stocking filler. This bag’s handy for making soap last longer, and it’s also great for using up soap scraps once big bars have been almost completely used up.
  • Pacifica solid perfumes, 2 for £15 or £10 each at Big Green Smile. It’s hard to find really good plastic-free perfumes that are also affordable (the choice is mainly between solid perfumes in tins and glass cologne splash bottles with metal caps)
  • Bio Happy violet multi-purpose cream tin, £7.52 for 150ml. A lightly scented moisturising cream with sweet almond oil for keeping skin soft and supple.

Bottom row, left to right:

  • Gwdihw Twinkle Toes foot balm, £3.96. Rich balm for dry skin, with a touch of peppermint for freshness.
  • Lush Snow Fairy naked shower gel, £7.95. Lush have been at the forefront of zero-waste products for years, and this is a solid shower gel in their bestselling festive fragrance, a mixture of candyfloss and fruity bubblegum. There are multiple matching products in the range, many of which are packaging free.
  • Lush Twilight sparkle jar, £8.50. A limited edition body butter bar, filled with gold sparkle powder, and fragranced with relaxing lavender and tonka bean.
  • Lush Charity Pot naked body lotion, £9.95. Rich bar of body lotion with fairly traded ingredients, an uplifting vanilla, rosewood and ylang- ylang fragrance, and 100% of the profits going to charity.

Lush is always worth a look for its unwrapped ‘naked’ products which also include bath bombs, shower bombs, bubble bath bars, massage bars, soaps, naked body conditioner shower moisturisers, and more (as we’re about to see)…

Zero-waste and no plastic hair products

Top row, left to right:

  • Lush Angel Hair shampoo bar (floral) and Halcyon Hair shampoo bar (citrus), £8.50 each. Lush have finally started making some of their famous solid shampoo bars without sodium lauryl sulphate (a known irritant) so these are a great improvement plus they look lovely.
  • Lush shampoo bar tin, £2.50. Makes a nice addition if you’re giving a shampoo bar, and ideal for travel.
  • Lush Sugar Daddy-O solid hair conditioner bar, £6.95. Violet scented and coloured bar to condition and prevent brassiness in blonde hair.

Bottom row, left to right:

  • Zoya Goes Pretty super moisturising hair mask, £13.00 for 90g. A real all-natural and organic treat for dry or damaged hair. The whole Zoya Goes Pretty plastic-free beauty range is beautifully made and presented, so it’s perfect for gifting.
  • Kooshoo plastic-free hair ties, £15.00 for pack of four. It’s very hard to find hair ties that have no plastic content or packaging, but these are excellent and available in a choice of colours.
  • Wooden bristle hairbrush, £10.95. One of the few truly plastic free hairbrushes, this pocket sized brush is great for Christmas stockings.
  • Lamazuna festive solid shampoo bar for normal hair, £9.99. A long lasting shampoo bar with gold eco-friendly glitter, scented with cinnamon, orange and star anise.
