Best value supermarket champagne 2025

Mmmm, bargain bubbles. Champagne is the drink we most associate with luxury and celebration; something for special occasions. While it’s often expensive, you can definitely find some excellent examples at more affordable prices.
That’s where this year’s top value 2025 supermarket champagne guide comes in.
Most of the non-vintage bottles I’ve mentioned here are under £20 if you buy them when the offers come around, and the best champagne pick might be snagged for just £15 if you know where and when to look.
I’ll mostly be concentrating on great value non-vintage (NV) champagnes, but will also include a couple of rosé offerings and some lovely supermarket vintage fizz.
Great value champagne, not just cheap
Everything I’ve listed here is an award winner, so nothing’s been included just for the sake of being ‘cheap’. We’re looking at great flavour and mouthfeel, and great value at the same time. There are gold medal, silver medal, and great value medals all round.
My reasoning is that if you’re spending champagne type of money, you want something that’s sensibly priced but also tastes delicious. [Otherwise, you’d be better off with one of the different cheap – but still excellent – types of sparkling wine from our other 2025 guide.]
None of the big UK supermarkets own their own vineyards in the Champagne region of France, so you’re always getting something produced for them by one of the set number of champagne houses in the area. Some are very high profile brands, so it pays to keep an open mind about the ‘supermarket own brand’ stuff.
AFFORDABLE NON-VINTAGE CHAMPAGNE 2025
Non-vintage champagne is by far the most popular type of supermarket champagne, and it’s always the most competitively priced variety. The larger volumes purchased allow the bigger shops to buy in bulk, giving you better savings.
Supermarkets sell the most non-vintage champagne in the run-up to party season, before Christmas and New Year, offering their most competitive discounts in the later months of the year. You can also find some good deals around payday weekends.
I’ve listed the basic shelf price for everything, and remember to look out for those deals and offers, many of which can be combined for even greater savings. For example, you might find a price reduction with a loyalty scheme, and also be able to use a multi-buy offer at the same time.
Co-op Les Pionniers Brut NV Champagne | £22.75

- This one’s the obvious winner of winners for value for money this year, and it retails for the lowest price too. Look out for price drops in December (it was £15 per bottle last year). << PENNY’S PICK: best value supermarket champagne – stock up!
- Awards: IWC Great Value sparkling wine under £25, IWC silver medal 91/100, IWSC silver medal 91/100, Decanter silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “harmonious balance of rich fruit and crisp acidity unfolds … complexity and elegance … pleasant creamy, fruity finish” “notes of peach, lemon, brioche and butter.”
- BUY AT >> Co-op
Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Brut NV Champagne | £24.00

- From the Louis Kremer champagne house, this fizz is the only other supermarket bottle under £25 that won multiple medals in 2025. Turns up in multi-buy deals from time to time, potentially making it cheaper than Co-op some weeks.
- Awards: IWC silver medal 92/100, IWSC silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “citrus aromas … white flower and pastry notes … complex palate reveals juicy fruit… nutty flavours … refreshing finish” “enticing floral aromas … notes of fresh peach and buttered toast … elegant, with fine bubbles and fresh finish” “lovely creamy texture.”
- BUY AT >> Sainsbury’s
Tesco Finest Premier Cru Brut NV Champagne | £26.00

- Reliable customer favourite that regularly turns up in buy 3 get 25% off deals, making it £19.50 per bottle. Look out for Clubcard deals too.
- Awards: IWSC silver medal 90/100, IWC silver medal 90/100, Which? Magazine Best Buy winner.
- Notes: “elegant, toasty aroma … with fresh apple … vibrant lemon, lime and light vanilla … finish is fresh and moreish” “bright, zingy wine with delicate mousse and some creamy lemon custard.”
- BUY AT >> Tesco
Aldi Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut NV | £14.95

- Best champagne in the world, full stop? Really? Hmmm, probably not. There isn’t much information about the WDA medal, but I don’t give it as much weight as, say, the very thorough tastings at Decanter. However, it’s a decent ‘party fizz bulk buy’ champagne in the lowest price bracket.
- Awards: World Drinks Awards best champagne award, IWC bronze medal, IWSC bronze medal
- Notes: “hints of crushed hazelnuts, super balance with a lovely length” “aromas of citrus and herbs, palate of green apple, peach, and honeysuckle, fresh finish with hint of minerality”
- BUY AT >> Aldi, in store only
Now on to three more good examples of supermarket non-vintage champagne, in a slightly higher price bracket. You don’t necessarily get more for the extra few quid, but if you like to shop at a specific supermarket then these are their award winners.

Marks & Spencer Delacourt Brut NV Champagne | £25.00
- One of two M&S non-vintage champagnes that won more than one medal. This first bottle gets the nod from Decanter and has a lower price.
- Awards: Decanter 90/100, IWSC silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “toasty notes, poised palate with lemony finish … delicious” “bright citrus and yeasty toasted biscuit aromas … palate of green apple, zesty lemon … clean, very enjoyable refreshing finish.”
- BUY AT >> Ocado online, or M&S in stores
M&S Collection Saint Gall Tradition Premier Cru Brut NV | £28.00
- Multi-buy offers can occasionally be found at Ocado, reducing the cost per bottle.
- Awards: IWSC gold medal 95/100, IWC silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “inviting aromas … clean, toasted notes with fresh apple … vibrant citrus, white peach and subtle creaminess on the palate, soft bubbles … finish that lingers” “light toast, gentle red fruit, green apple.”
- BUY AT >> Ocado online or M&S in store
Waitrose Blanc de Noirs Brut NV Champagne | £28.00
- A big customer favourite. Often £3 off, combined with their ‘5% off when you buy any 6’ deal, bringing the price down to £23.75 per bottle.
- Awards: IWC silver medal 92/100, IWSC silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “creamy aroma, hints of sweet spice, cinnamon, and vanilla … palate of red fruit and touch of savoury complexity …long concentrated finish” “zingy fizz with nice yeasty notes, crisp apples and juicy berry fruit.”
- BUY AT >> Waitrose, and also at Waitrose Cellar
AWARD WINNING ROSE CHAMPAGNE for 2025
Rosé champagne is made by slightly more fiddly methods (either blended or macerated), so it tends to cost a little more. A good example has complex flavours, such as more obvious red fruits, and may be dry or demi-sec on the palate.
Affordable rosé champagnes didn’t exactly sweep the boards at the awards this year, but if it absolutely has to be pink drinks at your house then here are the two supermarket silver medal winners.

Co-op Les Pionniers Rosé Champagne, NV | £25.75
- Once again, a strong showing for the Co-op, but three quid more expensive per bottle.
- Awards: IWC silver medal 91/100
- Notes: “bread dough, red currant, berries and pomegranate … lemon zest and a rounded finish.”
- FIND AT >> Co-op
Waitrose Rosé Brut NV Champagne | £30.00
- Often discounted with £3 off, then combined with 5% off when you buy 6. Very popular with customers, and made by Maison Bonnet.
- Awards: IWSC silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “juicy citrus and ripe red fruit aromas with a subtle herbal note … delicate balance of soft red currant and floral hints on the palate … lingering finish.”
- BUY AT >> Waitrose, and also Waitrose Cellar

And finally, we’re having a quick look at the more complex – and let’s face it, expensive – vintage champagne category.
BEST VALUE SUPERMARKET VINTAGE CHAMPAGNE
I’m also including a few supermarket vintage champagne offerings, in case you’re looking for something for a really special occasion. Vintage champagne is more expensive, but it’s also more complex in flavour and makes a great gift.
Unlike the non-vintage category, the big winner here has the highest price point. However, it’s from the same supermarket: yes, the Co-op does it again!
Co-op Les Pionniers Vintage Brut 2013 | £35.20

- Very, very high scoring, but also the most expensive in this category. However, given the quality and reputation of the ‘secret’ champagne producer behind this (Piper Heidsieck, shhhh), it’s a bargain for the price.
- Awards: IWSC Gold Medal 95/100, IWC gold medal 95/100, Decanter silver medal 93/100
- Notes: “complex, expressive nose of lemon zest, white flowers and apricot … on the palate, refreshing citrus, stone fruit and pastry … creamy texture … long, satisfying finish, savoury toasty notes” “nice acidic backdrop and lingering finish”
- BUY AT >> Co-op
Now on to an offering from Tesco that won a couple of pretty high-scoring silver medals.
Tesco Finest Grand Cru Brut Vintage Champagne 2017 | £32.00

- Look out for buy 3 get 25% off deals, which work out at £24 per bottle. When on offer it’s a fair bit cheaper than the Co-op one mentioned above, if you want a reliable vintage champagne for less.
- Awards: IWSC silver medal 93/100, IWC silver medal 92/100
- Notes: “vibrant citrus notes, green apple and lemon peel … lively acidity on the palate, super-clean finish”
- BUY AT >> Tesco
And finally, here are three more vintage champagnes under £35 that’ve won multiple awards this year, starting with the cheapest of the bunch:

Asda Extra Special Louis Bernard Brut 2018 | £24.98
- Often in ‘buy 3 get 25% off’ deals, bringing the price per bottle down to £18.74 per bottle.
- Awards: IWC silver medal 93/100, IWSC silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “nice balance, lots of layers … orange peel on finish” “nose of orchard fruit with white blossom … palate shows ripe citrus and red berry … refreshing acidity, and soft, rounded finish.”
- BUY AT >> Asda
Louvel Fontaine Champagne Brut Vintage (2016) | £28.98
- This vintage champagne seems to be exclusive to Asda, and costs a few quid more than their Louis Bernard mentioned above. However, it sometimes turns up in decent offers so look out for those.
- Awards: Decanter silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “apple, hazelnut, rosemary and fresh dough aromas … grippy palate with lemon on the finish.”
- BUY AT >> Asda
M&S Delacourt Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne 2017 | £30.00
- Towards the upper end of the price bracket, with two silver medals. Occasionally on offer at Ocado.
- Awards: IWC silver medal 93/100, IWSC silver medal 90/100
- Notes: “rich, doughy, great nuttiness … great energy and length” “citrus, hints of caramel, and toasted notes … green apple and grapefruit on the palate with refreshing minerality and lingering finish”
- BUY AT >> Ocado online, or M&S in stores
