Affordable Autumn fashion finds on a budget
We’re coming up to the start of a new season, and I’ve hunted down some affordable Autumn fashion finds for you. These are the earliest initial drops, and are likely to get snapped up quickly, especially the best value coats and boots.
These retailers have nailed so many AW23 catwalk and chic street fashion trends, and they’re all priced for a realistic high street budget. There are also some excellent cost-effective additions to any capsule wardrobe here that you’ll wear and wear for many seasons to come.
New in early Autumn at Tu at Sainsbury’s
There are some real Autumn fashion bargains to be found here, with something for just about everyone.

Midwash Denim Wide Leg Jeans With TENCEL™ Lyocell, £24 >> Find at TU
Made from soft flowy fabric so they look more expensive than they actually are. Wear with sandals and a t-shirt now, and a button down shirt and loafers after that. Please note that these jeans come up very long in the leg – I bought a pair and ended up getting the short version (I never shop in the petite section).
If wide leg or baggy jeans aren’t quite your style, try the Everbelle Indigo Denim Midi Skirt, £28 instead.
Pink floral print quilted jacket £36 >> Find it at TU
Quilted boxy jackets are still popular, and this pretty pink floral print would be a welcome warmer layer when the leaves start to turn. Sizes 8 to 24.
There’s also an excellent on-trend black floral print quilted jacket for £36 that’s fully reversible, and a green ditsy print quilted bomber jacket for £40.
First Autumn launches at George at ASDA
Nip out for a pint of milk, come home with your AW23 wardrobe sorted. We’ve all done it… or is that just me? Nope, we’ve all done it.
Black spot textured tie-waist midi dress, £20 >> Find it at George
This is a very catwalk inspired print, particularly by this-season Valentino and other top fashion houses (Chanel, Balmain, Marni, Miu Miu etc). Perfect for fans of the monochrome spots and polka dots trend.

Tan belted button-up trenchcoat, £38 >> Find it at George
Really nicely made tan trenchcoat that you’ll wear again and again for years. Looks more expensive than it really is, and a proper bargain.
Black longline formal coat, £32 >> Find it at George
You’ve heard of the classic LBD (little black dress), now meet the LBC (long black coat)! Also available in burgundy, khaki and cobalt blue. There are rumours of a light camel coloured one appearing at some point too, which would be another great wardrobe classic on a budget.

Many designers used checked or tweedy fabric in their designs this year, and the George houndstooth coat works with both stealth wealth and punky outfits. Also available in a chic grey herringbone colourway.
Early AW23 fashion arrivals at Matalan
The first clothing collections haven’t quite dropped yet at Matalan, but there’s a very affordable checked jacket I have my eye on, and the always-popular great quality Soleflex shoes have all arrived.

Bracelet length (3/4) sleeves for the tail end of summer going into early Autumn, and an attractive print. This is a fairly slim cut but you could always buy it in a larger size to get more volume.

Black patent upper, a chunky chain, statement cleated sole and a cushioned insock for all-day comfort. This ticks a lot of fashion boxes for a tiny price.
Soleflex Black Leather Wedge Boots, £36 >> Find at Matalan
Real leather, fashionable square toe, and a wedge heel that gives a little extra height but is still easy to walk in. I have my eye on a pair of these for weekend wear.
Soleflex lace-up boots, brown or black, £29 >> Find at Matalan
Simple, casual, and goes great with both trousers and dresses. Would work well in a low-key capsule wardrobe. These boots remind me a lot of a pair from a high end brand that cost more than four times the price.
First big drop at Office Shoes for AW23
