The quest to make a few extra quid here and there continues, and some areas are now obviously working out better than others.
Selling
Selling goods brought in £51.42 in February, which was all eBay stuff. I sold fewer items than last month, and most of them were at a lower value too. I had a couple of time wasters here and there, and a buyer who wouldn’t pay or answer any communications. I’ve re-listed the non-paid-for item along with the new stuff for March.
My eBay listings for March haven’t finished yet, but I did another block of photographs and listings in one fell swoop – lack of chopping and changing seems to save time.
Website
February was a good month for Skimlinks, as it represented Christmas and New Year shopping. There’s a lag time of a few weeks. March is probably not going to pay out anything at all, since the payment threshold doesn’t look like it will be reached.
I’ve turned down a few sponsored posts and links in the last few weeks too. Nothing has fitted properly with the way I like to run the site. I know this might make me sound a bit sniffy, but it can make sites look biased and I would only do this sort of thing if it was a product or service I use myself and completely loved already. The same goes for ads – we’re currently ad-free.
Cashback
I made £13.17 in cashback in February, which isn’t bad at all. My provider of choice is currently TopCashback and I’m finding them very reliable. Not sure how much cashback will have cleared by the end of March, but it could be a reasonable amount… we’ll see.
Surveys
Most of January’s surveys reached their payment thresholds in February and some of them had lag times with the money being credited. In the end they paid out £41.00 in PayPal and Amazon vouchers and I was really happy with that. So far in March I’ve managed to get my hands on £16.00, and there might be a little more to come. No luck getting into market research events though, maybe next month.
The survey companies I’ve found reliable are Valued Opinions UK, MySurvey and Ipsos Access Panels (I’ve tried others and been less impressed too but never mind).
February went quite well, and so far March has tailed off a little. Eventually I’ll run out of things to sell, but I’ll try to do more eBay listings in April, plus another box of stuff can go off to MusicMagpie.
If you’d like to find out more about why I started the project, or you just want to keep up with the running tally for the year, it’s in the Features section of this site. Have a peek whenever you feel like it.
